TCU commits, targets react to Horned Frogs’ stunning semi-final win

TCU pulled off a stunning 51-45 victory over No. 2 Michigan on Saturday night to advance to its first national championship game since 1938.

This comes on the heels of a strong Signing Day for the Horned Frogs that saw Sonny Dykes and his staff sign the No. 19 class in the country. Here are what signees from the class along with key 2023 and 2024 targets had to say about the huge upset.

2023 targets

Four-star athlete Jelani McDonald: “Man, all I gotta say is IT WAS A GOOD game.”

Four-star wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot: “One of the best games I’ve ever seen and they are looking real scary when they are all clicking together as a whole.”

2023 commits

Four-star wide receiver Cordale Russell: “Man everybody was taking us for granted because we were the underdogs but they see what’s up now! They gonna feel us every time, I swear! I can’t wait to get there man.”

Four-star cornerback Channing Canada: “We’re playing FunkyTown football. Many people are shocked that we are in the game but this is the STANDARD for TCU Football. We just have to finish strong.”

Four-star athlete Randon Fontenette: “Man it was an intense physical game, great game to watch.”

Three-star defensive lineman Keviyan Huddleston: “This is a big game from TCU. Need them to win so they can get that natty.”

Three-star athlete Rohan Fluellen: “First off, Coach Sonny Dykes is THE GOAT. I had the mindset that we were going to win coming into the game and the team really went out there and showed everyone else, that’s what the CarterBoys do!”

Three-star safety Javeon Wilcox: “TOO COLD UNIVERSITY!”

Three-star defensive end Jonathan Bax: “Hypnotoad”

Three-star linebacker Kylan Salter: “Love it. We are played lights out, played like we have a point to prove and defense was balling out big-time when we needed a stop. We stepped up and made some big plays. Can’t wait to join the program in a couple of weeks!”

Three-star cornerback Vernon Glover Jr.: “We litttttttt”

2024 commits

Four-star quarterback Marcos Davila: “Man words can’t express! So proud of the team. So huge for the program. I knew they were prepared for this game. I talked with the coaches yesterday and they sounded pretty confident in their players.”

2024 targets

Five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson: “I was watching the game at work. I felt like Michigan tried to take TCU lightly, but TCU played like an underdog like they have all year, They’ve been playing fast and they found their groove. Everybody did their job and big time players made big time plays. I think they’re just having fun doing what the game plan is, and they don’t bow down to anybody.”

Four-star safety Ka’Davion Dotson: “Showed they can definitely compete at one of the highest levels of CFB loved how they played as a team and the energy.”

Four-star offensive lineman Michael Uini: “Loved seeing the underdogs perform and win. Remember. They weren’t even ranked before the season.”

Four-star safety Xavier Filsaime: “GO FROGS MAN! Them boys just put on for the state.”

Four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell: “Overall great game all around for TCU. They came in with a drive and didn’t let up for the rest of the game.”

Four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller: “TCU just plays hard honestly they can score everywhere and isn’t afraid to take deep shots.”

Three-star running back Taylor Tatum: “TCU came out and played Michigan hard. Everyone had TCU as the underdog in this game but they didn’t play like it!”

Three-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith: “TCU defense man! Stopping them on defense on goal line multiple times has been exciting and they have played good by just only sending three. Those linebackers are something serious! Especially Dee (Winters) he came to play.”

Running back James Peoples: “TCU been doing this all year and with this new coaching staff they are going to be a top team for a long time!!!”
