Steelers fans clamor for permanent change to end zones

The Pittsburgh Steelers painted their end zones yellow for the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception in Week 16, and they’ve become quite a hot topic heading into the offseason as many are petitioning to keep them for good.

Pittsburgh kept them for its season finale as well. With wins in both matchups, the Steelers finished 2-0 when the end zones were painted as they originally were at Three Rivers Stadium.

It is a small sample size, but they certainly make Acrisure Stadium pop compared to its normal end zones.

“Keep the Steelers end zones yellow because they look incredible. Keep them like that because that’s what Steelers football is,” said radio host Colin Dunlap on Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan.

However, it’s not as simple as it may seem. It would create a difficult scenario since the Steelers share the stadium with the University of Pittsburgh’s football team.

The two teams do share the color yellow, which gives Steelers fans some hope in the idea.

Maybe the letters in “PITTSBURGH” can be changed between black and blue for each of the teams. The Steelers’ and Panthers’ logos are already changed on the 50-yard line between games.

It would be more work for the grounds crew — so give them a pay raise because it would certainly be worth it for the aesthetic.
