Luxair has completed installation of nose-to-tail in-seat power from Burrana on the first of four Boeing 737-800 aircraft as part of its cabin upgrade programme to deliver an enhanced passenger experience.

Every passenger will have the ability to power and charge smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic devices via dual USB-A jacks powered with Burrana’s ultra-lightweight power architecture.

“Our airline was looking for the latest technologies to bring the best passenger experience to our guests,” said Martial Romanjuk, Avionic & Electrical System Support Engineering, Luxair. “We needed a slim, integrated, and reliable Dual USB-A outlet solution that allows passengers to arrive at their destination fully charged. Burrana was able to bring this to us in record time, with the flexibility and commitment we required. Luxair is now eager to launch this new USB charging feature on our first B737 cabin this month.”

Intelligent power-sharing distribution and load shed management are designed to ensure greater utilisation and efficiency of available power in the cabin. Multiple levels of redundancy provide high reliability and are said to make the possibility of a passenger-facing failure almost zero.

“Luxair and Burrana share a common interest in innovation to bring ultra-lightweight, reliable, and high-performance cabin technologies onboard Luxair’s B737 fleet,” said Marc Cougoule, Director, EMEA Region, Burrana. “Burrana’s innovative seat spar design on the seat leg ensures all passengers fly in comfort without any intrusion to their leg room. We’re delighted to continue to build on our relationship with Luxair which started many years ago with the installation of Paves Overhead IFE systems on Luxair’s B737 fleet.”
