Large Electric Sustainable Ferries : incat tasmania

The new Incat Tasmania is developed in Australia and with its new announcement, it is notably the largest electric ferry in the world. The boat measures out to be 485.5 feet and can carry up to 2,100 passengers and over 200 vehicles at an impressive 25 knots to reach a maximum of 100 nautical miles.

The ferry originally was set to run on LNG, which is liquified natural gas, but now it takes a battery-electric design that will become the largest zero-emissions ferry. Robert Clifford, Incar Group Chairman states that “Zero emissions shipping is the future and Incat based in Tasmania, one of the few places on the planet which has already delivered net zero, is now poised to revolutionize the world’s shipping fleet.”
