eBay’s Mobile App Offers a Goldmine of Insights for Sellers

Engineering

Teams at eBay regularly draw on the company’s decades of data from billions of listings to find customer insights that help them enhance their experience on the platform. Now sellers can tap into that same trove of sold items data right within eBay’s mobile app, using a service called Product Research that lets them research and list items from anywhere.

Product Research (previously named Terapeak) provides three years’ worth of eBay sales data to sellers, including an item’s actual sold price (including the accepted price for Best Offer listings), average sold price, sold price range, percent sold with free shipping and average shipping, and the number of sellers who have sold a specific product. Future updates will incorporate additional information such as sell-through rate, more trend graphs, and the ability to view active listings.

Product Research provides key metrics and a price trend graph that shows average sold data for an item over time.

Users can search, sort, filter, and view data in Product Research in a variety of ways. There’s also a “Sell one like this” feature that starts a new listing with information conveniently pre-populated from a sold listing for them to use or modify to best describe their item.

Product Research is available now in the latest version of the eBay app for iOS and Android.

Desktop users can access it on Seller Hub, a free eBay resource featuring tools and tips for sellers to help them manage their business and increase their sales.

You can learn more about how to access and use Product Research over on eBay’s Seller Community site.
