The You Are The Media (YATM) Creator Day at Lighthouse, Poole on Thursday April 27, will focus is on how businesses can be leading voices in their industry.

The day is a mix of presentations, networking, learning and culminates in the audience working together.

YATM founder Mark Masters said he recognised the unsteady times people and businesses are having.

“Spending money and time to attend events comes with added decision-making. To some, it can be seen as an indulgence as the cost of living affects us all,” he said.

“Our annual events, since 2018 have been £200 to attend, but when your audience is predominantly small business, you have to read the room differently today.”

Seventy per cent of 500 UK markers say reduced budgets have made it harder to reach their target audience, according to Ello Group in 2022.

Mr Masters decided to reach out to others for support and to cover the bulk of the costs for people to attend.

He said: “It is thanks to the generosity and kindness of three businesses who have stepped up to help out. I like to call it the ‘rising tide lifts all boats’ approach. It’s the wider community that is helping each other out. The cost to attend is £45. Nothing has been compromised, the high standards we have always set ourselves remain. Everyone is being catered for with lunch and refreshments.”

Accountancy firm Magic Digits, Poole manufacturing firm SAFI Valves and Foundry, the new co-working space, in central Poole, stepped up as partners for the event and to help local businesses.

Adam Walker, co-founder of Foundry said: “We’re about to open the new co-working space in the heart of Poole and when you have a business that is centred on bringing people together, the partnership with YATM fits. We’re going to keep this momentum going, even after the event.

Rachael Marshall, director of Magic Digits, said: “When there are ways to be creative when it comes to figuring out how to bring people together, my business wants to step up and help out others. Plus when you feel a part of the wider YATM community, it’s easier for us to roll our sleeves up together.”

Matt King, general manager for SAFI Valves, said: “This whole approach is what YATM represents. We can create something special when we work together. When you navigate what’s happening around us as a collective, we can all come out smiling again. Looking forward to welcoming people from the local area and from around the UK who are heading to Poole.”

Foundry is also offering free workspace for 48 hours for all attendees the day before and on the day of Creator Day.
