Watch: LSU women’s team receives Kobe 6’s

Less than 24 hours after knocking off No. 2 Utah in the Sweet 16, the LSU Tigers received a special gift ahead of their first Women’s Elite Eight appearance since 2008.

On Saturday, each member of the LSU team acquired a fresh pair of Kobe 6’s courtesy of Vanessa Bryant, widow of Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant.

LSU’s improbable tournament run continued in Friday’s win over the Utes, thanks to another stellar effort from Angel Reese and Ladazhia Williams. Williams led the Tigers in scoring with 24, while Reese posted a double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Reese is on an unprecedented run in the NCAA Tournament, rivaling any women’s basketball player, at every level, over the last two decades. Through three games, Reese is averaging 25.3 points, 17 rebounds, four blocks and 2.3 steals in wins over No. 14 Hawaii, No. 6 Michigan and Utah.

LSU draws No. 9 Miami (FL) on Sunday with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

The Hurricanes have been a true Cinderella story throughout the tournament. After squeaking by with a one-point win over No. 8 Oklahoma in the opening round, Miami upset No. 1 Indiana by a basket to advance to the Sweet 16.

On Friday, the Hurricanes again came on top in a close game, topping No. 4 Villanova, 70-65, to earn an Elite Eight berth for the first time in program history.
