Stinker Stores taps tech company for new retail intelligence platform

Business

Dive Brief:

  • Convenience store chain Stinker Stores has tapped Accustore to create a retail intelligence platform for its locations, according to a Thursday press release.
  • The company also tapped Accustore’s parent company, GSP Retail, to handle its publication and marketing needs.
  • Accustore will be surveying Stinker Stores’ locations over the next two months, gathering data ahead of launching the software system.

Dive Insight:

As consumer preferences continue to evolve, Accustore gives Stinker Stores the ability to make data-driven decisions, deploy the correct marketing materials to each location and ensure that customers get the same experience throughout the entire chain. The technology can also “enhance operations, marketing, facilities, management, loss prevention and human resources,” according to the release.

As part of the agreement, Accustore will also be testing “virtual store walkthroughs” of the locations. These 3D renderings of the store combine in-store photos and profile data, allowing companies to plan for remodeling or in-store layout changes, or even updated marketing rollouts, from a computer instead of needing to do on-site visits for all locations.

“Accustore’s data-driven approach to increase visibility in stores, across many departments, makes a significant impact on execution and operations,” said Jennifer Williams, vice president of Accustore, in the release. “More than 100 retailers have implemented Accustore-powered distributions to eliminate waste and ensure sustainability.”

Clearwater, Florida-based GSP Retail provides store-specific in-store marketing programs to more than 60,000 retailers. Besides Stinker Stores, GSP has also worked with Circle K, Pilot, Kum & Go, Texas Born, CEFCO, APlus convenience stores and other c-store retailers. Most recently, BP-owned Thorntons, Ampm and ARCO convenience stores tapped GSP to provide point-of-purchase (POP) programs in more than 1,350 locations.

Founded more than 85 years ago, Boise, Idaho-based Stinker Stores currently has 110 locations in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming. The Stinker family of companies also includes Arrowrock Supply, a grocery and tobacco wholesaler, and Westpoint Transportation, a trucking company that moves petroleum products in the transportation of motor fuels and petroleum products in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Montana.
