The International Esports Federation (IESF) has revealed that the World Esports Championship, a region-specific esports competition, is scheduled to occur in Saudi Arabia in 2024. Although the specific host city remains undisclosed, this announcement underscores the growing enthusiasm and new financial backing directed toward esports within Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has experienced substantial government-led initiatives aimed at bolstering the esports sector, encompassing investments in diverse esports-related enterprises, video game developers, and the facilitation of esports tournaments. Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, a prominent member of the Saudi royal family, assumed the role of Statutory Vice President of the International Esports Federation in June. He also holds the title of Vice President of the Global Esports Federation.

As esports continues to grow in the MENA regions, this decision to host the championship in Saudi Arabia underscores the country’s unwavering dedication to establishing itself as a prominent participant in the global esports arena.
