Low birthrates, combined with human encroachment on habitat, have kept wild populations of giant panda bears low for many decades. But things are getting better for this rare and beloved creature.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature has reclassified the species from “endangered” to “vulnerable”. (That’s an upgrade, by the way.)
