Bucks’ Allen causes, ends OT vs Raptors with ridiculous shots

Sports

Grayson Allen let Toronto get to OT with a cheap shot. Then he won it with a clutch shot.

Allen hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 11 seconds to go to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 104-101 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Allen was helped by a highlight pass from Giannis Antetokounmpo, which gave the Greek Freak a 30-point, 21-rebound, 10-assist triple-double.

In other words, another boring effort.

But Milwaukee wouldn’t have had to play overtime at all without the dirty play Allen made with 29 seconds left. With the Bucks up 97-88, Gary Trent Jr. sunk a 3-point shot, while Allen appeared to sink his hands into Trent’s shorts.

Let’s just say Allen provided the wrong kind of ball pressure on this play, and that we hope Gary Trent Jr. Jr. is OK.

Allen received a flagrant, and Trent made the ensuing free throw to cut the lead to five points.

Scottie Barnes immediately scored on a layup, meaning Allen’s low blow gave Toronto a six-point possession.

Perhaps invigorated by the threat to his future children, Trent nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to OT.

This kind of dirty play is unlike Allen, who normally trips people, knocks them out of the air, or shoves them in the back.

Trent’s heroics completed an almost unthinkable comeback for the Raptors, who trailed by a whopping 21 points with just over three minutes to go in the game.

They closed on a 28-7 run, with Trent providing 10 of those points.

But Allen ended up the hero, proving that occasionally, balls do lie.
