Boldly Hopped Black IPAs : rye IPA

Trends
California-based Firestone Walking Brewing Company has gone ahead and launched ‘Wookey Jack Black Rye IPA,’ a move that marks a reincarnation of sorts after the original ‘Wookey Jack’ line was ended years ago.

This particular rye IPA comes in at a strong 8.3 percent ABV, making it a bold offering that is well-suited to seasoned lovers of hoppy and rye-infused brews. The beer makes use of Citra and Amarillo hops that are put through a significant dry-hopping process, making for a beer that has in-your-face dankness, while the inclusion of rye adds a grain-like character.

Whereas the original ‘Wookey Jack’ is credited with being one of the flag-bearers of the black IPA segment, the reimagined release goes to show that this particular segment of the beer market is alive and well.
