Russia announced Thursday that it will return five Ukrainian children who were separated from their families during the ongoing conflict.
Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s commissioner for children’s rights, stated that the children are expected to be reunited with their families in Ukraine by the end of June.
The move follows ongoing international pressure on Moscow to account for the transfer of Ukrainian minors to Russian-held territories during the war. Ukrainian and international authorities have accused Russia of forcibly relocating children—an allegation Moscow denies, insisting it has acted to protect them from the conflict.
No further details were provided about the children’s identities or the circumstances of their separation.
