A Jet2 flight from Tenerife to Nottingham was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday evening after a passenger, reportedly in his 70s, suffered a fatal medical emergency onboard.
The flight, which took off on Friday 15th Feb from Tenerife at 7:05 pm, was diverted to Santiago-Rosaliá de Castro Airport on the Spanish mainland after the crew alerted air traffic control about the passenger’s serious health issue. Despite efforts by emergency services, the man was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to local reports from Diario de Avisos, the passenger required urgent medical attention, prompting the diversion to the airport in Galicia. An ambulance was dispatched, and medical staff confirmed the man’s death shortly after the plane landed.
The victim’s nationality has not yet been revealed. The incident has left many in shock, and the airline has extended condolences to the family, while further details are awaited.
