Yaya Mayweather has been handed the legal consequences for stabbing a woman in 2020 inside the home of her son’s father, NBA YoungBoy.
According to Click2Houston, the 22-year-old was sentenced to six years probation for the incident. The Shade Room confirmed the sentence by accessing the court documents.
Yaya initially pleaded guilty to stabbing Lapattra Lashai Jacobs in April of this year–two years after the incident occurred. However, The Shade Room exclusively reported that Mayweather changed her plea to NOLO CONTENDERE, better known as no contest. This plea allows defendants to accept criminal punishment but not admit guilt.
Six years probation has long been on the table for the famed boxer’s daughter, so the final decision doesn’t come as much of a surprise. According to Click2Houston‘s report, she received the Deferred Adjudication of Guilt.
Here’s What Happened On The Night Of The Incident
As previously reported, Yaya encountered Lapattra inside YoungBoy’s home in April 2020. After identifying herself as the rapper’s fiancée, she asked the now 35-year-old to leave.
Eventually, they got into a verbal tussle that continued inside the kitchen. At some point, Yaya grabbed two knives and allegedly stabbed the woman. When police arrived, Jacobs was on the floor, and Mayweather told them Jacobs started the physical aspect of the fight by pulling her hair and then running to the kitchen.
Jacobs’s wounds included multiple slashes to her arm. Emergency personnel transported her to the hospital via ambulance. Though her injuries were non-life-threatening, she reportedly underwent surgery.
TSR later confirmed the woman was YoungBoy’s former ex-girlfriend. About a month after the stabbing, Jacobs said she would’ve continued seeing the artist if the stabbing hadn’t occurred.
Yaya and YoungBoy continued their involvement following the incident, given that Yaya got pregnant with her first child and his eighth. However, YoungBoy was reportedly not present at the baby shower. Their son Kentrell Jr. was born in January 2021.
