Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala are serious about podcasting. Now their boss is too.
Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers is starting a podcast called “Lead By Example,” in conjunction with ESPN and Omaha Productions, Peyton Manning’s entertainment production company. But as he’s learned in his 11+ years with the Warriors, fans are much more interested when Steph Curry is involved.
Myers won’t be recording reaction podcasts after the game, as Green did during the NBA Finals last summer. He also won’t be announcing his return on his podcast, like Andre Iguodala did this year, on two different occasions.
The concept of his new show is that Myers will sit down with leaders of all sorts to talk about, well, leadership. His impressive roster of guests includes Disney CEO Bob Iger, NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Charles Barkley, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Coach K, Becky Hammon, and not surprisingly, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. We hope Myers doesn’t get in trouble for putting Curry on ahead of Iger, who as head of Disney also oversees ESPN.
“I’m thrilled to be able to share conversations with some of the top leaders in their professions on my new podcast,” Myers said in a press release. Proceeds from the podcast will go to the Warriors Community Foundation, a charity that supports education and schools.
Warriors fans may be worried about Myers’ new venture, especially since he’s still unsigned beyond the end of this season. Owner Joe Lacob said on a podcast (where else?) that he “fully expects” Myers to be with the team next season, but perhaps the handsome Myers is getting out of the stressful job of winning championships and pivoting to a media career.
All we know is that when Myers finally makes a decision on his future, there will be plenty of podcasts where he can announce it.
