Design practice Brown & Brown finished the Spyon Cop, which is a black tonal timber-clad home that is located in the Scottish Highlands. It is designed to function as a rural retreat for London-based owners with three bedrooms. It rests on the base of a small hill and is covered by a green roof.

Andrew Brown, founder of the design studio talks about the project to Dezeen noting that “The landscape of the local area contains varying undulating slopes, and the massing of the building was conceived as a simple play on these forms. is felt that a contemporary and simple form contrasts and complements the context, and through winter, when the foliage on the site is barer, the dark cladding allows the building to be less eye-catching on the hill.”
