The ‘No. 2 overall NFL Draft picks’ quiz

Sports

With the 2023 NFL Draft in full swing, Chase Young is a good reminder that when it comes to prospects, there is no such thing as a “safe pick.” Widely regarded as the best prospect in the 2020 draft, Young was selected by Washington with the second overall choice and paid immediate dividends, not only winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, but making the Pro Bowl in his first NFL season as well. Then a knee injury forced him to miss half of his sophomore campaign and all but three games in his third season. That was seemingly enough for the Commanders front office to lose faith in Young, as Washington decided to decline his fifth-year option earlier this week. Now, that certainly doesn’t mean his time in Washington is officially over. Daniel Jones just signed a lucrative deal one year after having his fifth-year option declined, but it’s still a stunning fall from grace for a 24-year-old player once considered to have a real chance at being a generational talent.

Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Historically, the second pick in the draft is a crapshoot, with players ranging from Hall of Famers to flat-out busts. Where Young ends up when his career is all said and done is to be determined. So with that in mind, how many of the No. 2 overall picks in every NFL Draft since 1966 can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
