Overview
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is inviting proposals from organisations to support British nationals missing abroad and their families.
Apply by 9am (UK time) on 22 June 2026.
The maximum value of this funding opportunity is £35,000. You can apply for less than the maximum amount.
The expected grant period is 1 August 2026 to 31 March 2027. Any extension will depend on performance and the availability of funding.

Check if you are eligible to apply
You can apply if your organisation can demonstrate:

experience of supporting missing persons and their families
-
understanding of legal issues related to handling and sharing information about missing persons
-
experience of working with British nationals
-
ability to develop international links and partnerships
-
experience or understanding of working with UK government and overseas governments
-
capacity to operate in challenging contexts
Your organisation must already hold any licences or permits required to operate in the countries where services will be delivered.
Understand what the funding will support
The successful applicant will provide tailored, case-specific support, which may include:
-
emotional and practical support to families of British nationals missing abroad
-
a UK or international telephone number that is accessible globally for families and FCDO staff (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week where possible)
-
maintaining an accessible online presence with information relevant to people affected by missing persons cases
-
mobilising a support network in the UK and overseas
-
leading and running campaigns where appropriate
-
signposting families to other specialist organisations, for example, media support
-
referring families to other organisations or the FCDO when a missing person is found or circumstances change
-
delivering up to 3 training sessions for FCDO staff on the support available through the partnership
