South Korea-based multinational automotive giant Hyundai is preparing to make its first big foray into the burgeoning e-bike space with the launch of a special edition version of Rayvolt’s ‘eXXite Next Step,’ an unabashedly urban e-bike that has a growing fanbase of its own.
This limited-edition take on Rayvolt’s ‘eXXite Next Step’ will be offered with a 250-watt rear-hub motor that is capable of producing 50 Nm of torque and providing a trio of levels of torque-sensitive pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. Elsewhere, regenerative braking allows for the range of the battery to be expanded beyond its on-paper limit of 80 km per full charge.
While other auto companies have taken the step of launching their own e-bikes, Hyundai has opted for the interesting step of entering into a branding collaboration with an already established e-bike maker, combining the best of both worlds in terms of e-bike expertise and brand recognition.
