There are allegations of poor services at an Mpumalanga hospital.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says it’s investigating Shongwe Hospital in Mpumalanga over claims of human rights violations at the facility.

SAHRC Mpumalanga manager, Eric Mokonyama, told News24 that the commission launched an investigation after ActionSA lodged a complaint. He said other alleged human rights violations that ActionSA reported, which are being investigated by the commission, include claims of poorly maintained infrastructure and a lack of proper hygiene.

“The matter is under investigation and we can therefore not reveal any further details about the investigation at this stage,” said Mokonyama.
