Rad Power Bikes and Redwood Materials have announced a partnership to help recycle the former brand’s batteries from its electric bicycles. The partnership will see depleted batteries capable of being brought to Rad Power Bikes locations where they will be sent to Redwood Materials to be processed and recycled. The partnership will also see the brand’s retail locations in Washington and California act as a drop-off for old smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Rad Power Bikes Founder and Chair Mike Radenbaugh spoke on the Rad Power Bikes and Redwood Materials partnership saying, “A lot of programs… the batteries are changing hands a few different times before they get to the recycler. And there’s some efficiencies that can be lost there. We have enough volume where we can drive this program with Redwood to prove you basically have a big environmental impact here.”
