Eye-Tracking Informational Aquariums : ai aquarium

The Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, also known as ITRI introduces its new AI Aquarium, which tracks a visitor’s eyes. Following the eyes, it can then display information about the fish inside of the tank and offers a new way of interacting with the experience.

The innovative new tanks have two depth-sensing cameras that are able to understand three-dimensional information — one of which is on the outside and the other on the inside. The camera on the outside helps track the watcher’s eyes and know where they are looking inside of the tank. The interior camera then follows the position of the fish to match when is being seen. The footage from the second camera goes through a recognition algorithm to determine the species of the fish stored in the database.
