Notification-Silencing App Features : quiet mode 1

Instagram is debuting a new feature called ‘Quiet Mode’ in an effort to expand its time management options for individuals looking to reduce screen time. The new feature silences incoming notifications, automatically replies to DMs, and sets your account status to ‘In Quiet Mode’ to notify your friends and family that you aren’t reading their messages at this moment. Instagram will also be adding new safety features aimed at teenagers on the app, including new parental control tools to manage what content is being filtered to children.

‘Take a Break’ reminds users to put their phones down after a set amount of time, encouraging them to be present in the real world. Instagram already has features that help track and control daily time spent on the app.

“We’ll prompt teenage users to turn on ‘Quiet Mode’ – teens have told us they’re looking for more ways to focus while studying, during school and at night. It’s available today for all users in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and more countries soon,” said Nick Clegg, Meta’s President of Global Affairs, in a tweet.
