NHL best bets: Six props for Saturday’s massive slate

Sports

Rickard Rakell over 2.5 SOG (-120 DK)

Shots should be flowing on both ends of this Pittsburgh-New Jersey game, and I’m drawn to Rickard Rakell on the Penguins’ end.

Pittsburgh became a clear shot target seeing as they’re averaging 36.1 shots per game at home over their last 10 while the Devils are seeing 33.8 shots per game on the road in the same stretch.

Rakell has been a constant for Pittsburgh, especially at home. He’s over 2.5 shots in 72% of home games this year, and he’s averaging 6.3 attempts over his last 10. Rakell had eight SOG on 11 attempts last night, so I like that momentum to continue here.

Rakell had five shots the last time New Jersey came to town back in late December.

Jack Hughes over 1.5 points (+168 FD)

Let’s stay in this game but opt for a points prop. Jack Hughes is back, and I expect him to pick up right where he left off.

Hughes has two points in five straight games and four of his last six on the road. He also has 2+ points in three straight against Pittsburgh.

I like the Devils to pile on some goals here against a Penguins team on a back-to-back. Pittsburgh has allowed 3.8 goals per game at home over their last 10 while New Jersey is averaging 3.6 goals per game in their last 10 on the road.

Jeff Skinner over 2.5 SOG (-118 FD)

This is the best price I think we’re ever going to get on Jeff Skinner’s shots, and there’s plenty of reason to pounce.

Buffalo appears good for 32+ shots tonight against San Jose based on recent averages, and Skinner’s volume is on the rise.

After quite the cold spell, Skinner has gone for 5+ shots in two of his last three game, tallying 20 total attempts across the three games. It’s nice to see him picking it back up after a quiet stretch, and I’m betting it continues here.

Skinner has loved seeing San Jose, going for 3+ shots in five straight meetings (5.8 SOG/game average) and scoring in six straight. That’s history I’m following. I’ll tack on a goal bet too because why the hell not?

.5u: Jeff Skinner goal (+168 FD)

.5u: Viktor Arvidsson & Nikita Kucherov over 2.5 SOG (+173 CZR)

This seems like a nice combo to run from the late games. Arvidsson and the Kings will host an Arizona team allowing 35 shots per game on the road and handing out quite a bit of power plays lately.

Arvidsson tops Los Angeles in power play shooting and has gone over 2.5 shots in five of his last seven at home. He’s also gone over in three of his last four vs. the Coyotes, finishing with four or more SOG in each of those instances.

His dance partner tonight is Nikita Kucherov, who has dipped down to a 2.5 number that makes him look far more inviting.

Kucherov is over this number in 69% of his games this season, and that hit-rate is even stronger on the road at 78%. He has 3+ in seven of his last eight road games and has covered this 2.5 line in four of six meetings with Vegas.

The dip down is likely due to opponent, but Tampa looks good for 31+ shots to me this evening.
