NFL in ‘advanced’ talks with YouTube for ‘Sunday Ticket’ rights

Sports

NFL “Sunday Ticket” has long been a popular choice amongst NFL superfans or those living out of market from their favorite team.

It has also long been on DirecTV, though according to recent reports, that appears to be on the way to changing.

Joe Flint of The Wall Street Journal is reporting that YouTube, which is owned by Google, is in “advanced” talks with the NFL about acquiring the rights to “Sunday Ticket”.

The agreement could come to fruition as early as this Wednesday with the owners set to meet, per Flint. The team owners are required to vote and approve any rights deals.

At this time, details of the potential deal plus its impact on fans and current “Sunday Ticket” subscribers remain vague.

DirecTV has held the rights to “Sunday Ticket” since 1994, but their deal with the NFL will expire this offseason.
