Ab Rogers Design completes the Fishmarket space, which is a multipurpose creative and living space that is specifically designed for Japanese artist Hiraki Sawa. This works as a studio and residence and is located in Kanazawa, Japan defined by vibrant partition walls that can rotate around to alter the way that the space is used. The artist lives in London but often visits his home city and was looking for a creative space.
Rogers speaks about the space and unique kitchen area, noting that “The kitchen can be used as a kitchen but it’s also adaptable depending on what actions are being performed in the space. If you put a plate on it, it becomes a restaurant. If you put a computer on it then it’s an office and if you put a sewing machine on it then it becomes a workshop for designing or making textiles.”
