Ireland Announces €6 Million Humanitarian Aid Package for Gaza

World

Dublin, Ireland — Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris has announced a new €6 million humanitarian aid package for Gaza, as Ireland intensifies its support for relief efforts following the recent ceasefire and hostage release agreement.

The funding will be distributed through Ireland’s UN partners, including:

  • €2 million to UNICEF for child protection and emergency health services
  • €2 million to OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) for logistics and coordination
  • €1 million to the World Food Programme for food distribution
  • €1 million to the World Health Organization for medical aid and disease prevention

A Growing Commitment

This latest contribution brings Ireland’s total humanitarian support for Palestinians to over €89 million since October 2023, with €35 million allocated in 2025 alone RTÉ Ireland.

Harris emphasized the urgency of the situation: “The blockade on humanitarian aid has resulted in famine and untold horror for people in Gaza. Our partners are ready to deliver life-saving aid to those who urgently need it.”

He called on Israel to facilitate aid delivery and urged the international community to rally behind reconstruction efforts, noting that many children in Gaza have known nothing but war.

Operational Readiness

Minister of State for International Development Neale Richmond TD reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to humanitarian principles: “After two years of horrific suffering, there is now a moment of hope that must be grasped.”

He stressed the importance of logistical and financial support to ensure aid reaches those in need swiftly, adding that Ireland’s partners are prepared to deploy resources immediately.

Ireland has also joined the Emergency Coalition for the Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority, and is contributing 750 tents from its humanitarian stockpile as part of a broader consignment RTÉ Ireland.
