Pilot Bessie Coleman gets her own Barbie Doll with the launch of the new Brave Bessie doll that is joining Mattel’s Inspiring Women collection. The doll honors her legacy and career as a pilot as the joins the capsule of other notable women through history. The new doll showcases Coleman wearing an olive green tonal belted aviator suit with laced boots.
Additionally, her head has a brown hat on top that is marked with her initials that read BC. To ensure that this is a respectable and accurate design, Mattel works together with Gigi Coleman, who is the president of the Bessie Coleman Aviation All-Stars. The doll truly captures her involvement in the aviation community and encourages women and other people of color to pursue their dreams.
