March 9 – Hamas has signaled optimism for the continuation of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, highlighting positive developments regarding the second phase of the agreement. A statement from Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif Al-Qanou confirmed that Egyptian and Qatari mediators are working to finalize the terms and advance talks, with signs of progress.

The ceasefire, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, began in January and entered its first phase. Despite its expiration on March 1, both sides have refrained from large-scale hostilities, though the second phase negotiations have stalled. Hamas has called for a transition to the next phase to secure a permanent end to the conflict.

In parallel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel would send a delegation to Doha on Monday to further the truce discussions. According to Netanyahu’s office, the delegation, invited by US-backed mediators, will focus on advancing the negotiations.

Hamas’s political adviser, Taher al-Nunu, confirmed that a Hamas delegation led by Mohammad Darwish had arrived in Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials. These discussions will center on implementing the outcomes of a recent Arab summit and progressing with the ceasefire’s second phase.

Efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and address the Israeli blockade have been ongoing by both parties, while Egypt’s diplomatic push continues to facilitate a long-term solution, including reconstruction plans for Gaza valued at $53 billion.

This latest round of negotiations follows Egypt’s ongoing attempts to foster peace and support Gaza’s recovery.
