Architecture studio Hyde + Hyde takes on a new project to refurnish a 19th-century home in Oxford that highlights gothic themes. It takes on a new ornamental style that features an extension designed with decorative metal tiles. The name of the house is the Quatrefoil House, which nods to the decorative tiles that create a quatrefoil emblem.

Hyde + Hyde speaks about the design and inspiration that lies behind it, noting that the home was “Inspired by the Gothic revival style and language of the existing 1870s townhouse, the new contemporary intervention is an exploration and celebration of ornament. The new addition communicates built meaning visually through a series of regulating lines and proportional relationships, expressed in steel channels and framed brick facades.”
