EBRD Appoints Gianpiero Nacci as Chief Climate Officer

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Gianpiero Nacci as its new Chief Climate Officer, signaling a strengthened commitment to addressing climate change. Nacci, who brings extensive experience in sustainability and environmental finance, will lead the bank’s efforts to integrate climate considerations into its investments and operations.

As Chief Climate Officer, Nacci will oversee EBRD’s climate-related initiatives, which are integral to the bank’s goal of promoting sustainable development and environmental resilience across the regions it serves. His appointment comes at a crucial time, as the EBRD continues to align its financial strategies with global climate goals, including the Paris Agreement’s targets.

Nacci’s experience includes a background in both private sector and multilateral institutions, where he has worked on advancing climate finance and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. His leadership is expected to drive EBRD’s ongoing efforts to support green investments and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy and infrastructure in its member countries.
