After the NFL reinstated the No. 0, which had been shelved since 1973, star Cowboys LB Micah Parsons lucked out when he attempted to claim the number but didn’t acquire it.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, on Tuesday owners approved a proposal that allows players to wear the number, except offensive and defensive linemen. Consequently, Parsons wanted to be the first Cowboy to wear it, announcing he would make the switch on Twitter.

However, safety Jayron Kearse beat him to the punch. Per SI.com’s Mike Fisher, Kearse called Cowboys headquarters and officially changed from No. 27 to No. 0 — and he let his Pro Bowl teammate know it.
