Broncos LT not on the trade block

Hold your horses, Denver. Garett Bolles isn’t trade bait.

In a deleted tweet, KOA-AM/FM in Denver claimed that Denver placed the starting LT on the trading block. However, Troy Renck of KMGH-TV in Denver refuted the rumor.

“Bolles will not be put on the trading block,” he said on Twitter after talking to an unnamed source.

Denver might trade key starters to acquire more draft capital. Over the past two offseasons, it dealt seven draft picks for Sean Payton and Russell Wilson. Subsequently, Denver isn’t drafting until the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Despite the pressing need, the Broncos shouldn’t decimate their O-line by trading the unit’s best player. Bolles is the only member with an All-Pro selection (2020 second-team) under his belt.

Bolles suffered a season-ending leg injury in Week 5. Denver missed his presence since it allowed a league-leading 63 sacks. In 2021, when Bolles started 14 games, Denver surrendered 40 sacks.

Also, trading Bolles creates two holes at offensive tackle. Starting RT Billy Turner is a free agent, along with backups Calvin Anderson and Cam Fleming.

Wilson, 34, lost some of his mobility and can no longer easily escape pressure. He needs blockers to rely upon, meaning trading a dependable one is foolish.
