NEW YORK — BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, reported record assets under management (AUM) of $15.5 trillion in its third-quarter 2026 earnings results, driven by massive institutional client deposits and sustained global market tailwinds.
The asset management giant, led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink, attracted $205 billion in net new money during the three-month period ending September 30. Over the trailing 12-month period, net organic client inflows reached $869 billion.
Breakdown of Capital Flows and Earnings
BlackRock’s third-quarter revenue increased 19% year-over-year to $7.75 billion, beating analyst estimates, while adjusted earnings per share (EPS) surged 38% to $15.93.
Capital allocations across BlackRock’s investment vehicles were broad-based:
- Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs): The company’s flagship iShares platform generated $135 billion in net inflows, reflecting strong retail and institutional demand for index-based products.
- Active Strategies: Active management accounts brought in $66 billion in net client capital, led by systematic equities and active fixed-income funds.
- Cash & Private Markets: Cash management and money market funds attracted $31 billion in net inflows, while the firm raised $15 billion in private markets during the quarter, expanding its private credit and infrastructure capabilities.
Institutional Scale vs. Firm Valuation
The headline figure of $15.5 trillion represents client assets entrusted to BlackRock for management, investment, and custody across global bond, equity, and private markets. It does not reflect Larry Fink’s personal fortune or the corporate equity value of BlackRock Inc. itself.
Rising global stock and bond markets contributed significantly to the total asset surge, adding over $2 trillion to the firm’s total asset base over the past year alongside organic capital deposits.
Executive Outlook
In a statement following the earnings release, CEO Larry Fink highlighted the growing convergence of technology, infrastructure, and institutional investing.
“Clients entrusted us with $205 billion of net inflows this quarter, and $869 billion over the last year,” Fink stated. “Our track record of strong investment performance drove $66 billion of active net inflows… Demand for capital is growing across the global economy, and BlackRock is increasingly at the center of how that capital is deployed and managed.”
Fink noted that the firm is entering its fourth quarter with strong momentum across its private market platforms—including expanding credit and data partnerships—and growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure financing.
