Trends
Sorel’s award-winning liqueur is offered in an exquisite slender bottle and its notes of clove and ginger are bound to captivate spirit enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. The brand is Black-owned and founded by Jackie Summers who is “the first licensed Black distiller in America.”

The name Sorel is inspired by sorrel, which is an “ancestral hibiscus drink with roots in West Africa and the Caribbean.” Summers takes the opportunity of owning their business to honor his heritage as a member of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.

The award-winning liqueur has an ABV of 15% and is quite versatile—the spirit can be enjoyed on its own or when blended with other spirits. In 2022, Sorel distinguished itself as ” the most-awarded liqueur of the year,” collecting titles such as Food & Wine’s Drinks Innovator of the Year, Wine Enthusiast’s Future 40, and a James Beard Award nomination.
