Moving to ‘always open’ funding removes fixed deadlines, helping to smooth application demand and reviewer availability, while providing greater flexibility for applicants.

UKRI will also begin to launch its strategic priority programmes alongside applicant-led funding opportunities that enable researchers to bring forward the best ideas at any time.
