These new Meijer’s products have been launched in celebration of Black History Month to showcase some of the work of Black Midwestern artists and give back to a good cause.
The product range includes gift bags stationery, decorative pillows, kitchen towels, throw blankets and more, which all showcase the artwork of Dana Powell-Smith, Melina Brann and Shaunt’e Lewis. The retailer will be donating 5% from the sales of the collection to affiliates of the Urban League located in Indiana and Michigan.
Director of Supplier Diversity and Indirect Procurement Carla Hendon commented on the new Meijer products saying, “What I love most about the art we’re highlighting is that while all three artists took inspiration from the same prompt of Black History Month, they each approached it from a totally different viewpoint with their own unique style. It highlights the diversity we have within the Black community.”
