Arnaut Danjuma decides to join ‘bigger club’ Everton despite Bournemouth making significantly better offer to land Villarreal winger on loan

Everton have beaten Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest in the race to sign ex-Cherries winger Arnaut Danjuma.

The winger has been at Villarreal since his £21.3million move in 2021 – signing until 2026 – but now looks poised to return to England on loan until the end of the season.

Danjuma has made a decision on his future

talkSPORT understands Danjuma held talks with both Everton and Bournemouth this week, with the Cherries making a significantly better offer.

But the Dutchman has chosen Everton, in what looks set to be a major boost to the Toffees’ Premier League survival hopes.

Transfer correspondent Alex Crook said: “Bournemouth could not have done any more to bring back Danjuma.

“Their offer eclipsed that of Everton significantly but ultimately he has opted for the bigger club. A microcosm of the challenge the Cherries face every window.”

Danjuma netted 17 goals for Bournemouth in the Championship, as well as playing 16 fixtures for them in the Premier League the season before.

Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven and Forest were also keen on signing the winger that’s scored 22 goals in 51 appearances for Villarreal.

But it’s Lampard’s side that have snapped him up, with the Toffees hoping their January transfer window recruits will help them get out of the Premier League drop zone.

It’s understood Villarreal are keen for the loan deal to include an option to buy, too.

The winger has started just 10 games this season for the Spanish side, missing the start of the season due to a muscular problem sustained at the end of last season, but has still netted six goals.

Everton’s next game sees them face West Ham in a relegation six-pointer West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday. You can listen to all the updates from the game live on talkSPORT.
