Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid commented Monday on Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval’s troll job of quarterback Patrick Mahomes last week.
Last week’s video of Pureval, declaring that officials recently asked Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to “take a paternity test to confirm whether or not he’s his father” of Mahomes went viral.
Despite being the road team during Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, Cincinnati had to be feeling confident, due in large part to Burrow’s career 3-0 record against Mahomes.
Pureval had previously announced at a city council meeting that he would be at “Burrowhead Stadium” for the contest and planned to talk trash to Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas.
Following the Chiefs’ 23-20 win Sunday night, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce called out the Cincinnati mayor, saying in an interview “Know your role and shut your mouth, you jabroni!”
Defensive tackle Chris Jones had a memorable postgame interview as well, saying, “Don’t you ever, ever, ever — and I’m going to look right into the camera when I say this — disrespect Arrowhead.”
Both Jones and Kelce had huge performances in the win over the Bengals. The defender finished the night with game-highs in quarterback hits (five), tackles for loss (three) and sacks (2.0), while Mahomes’ favorite target put up seven receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown.
