Ana Vieira da Mata has been elected as the new Chair of EASA’s Management Board (MB). The MB brings together representatives of the Member States and the European Commission and is responsible for the definition of the Agency’s priorities, the establishment of the budget and for monitoring the Agency’s operations.
The Chair of the body is elected by its members from within the membership. The election took place during a regular MB meeting on December 9-10, 2025.
Ana Vieira da Mata is Chairwoman of the Board of Directors at the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority ANAC, stepping up to that role in 2024. She had joined the ANAC board in 2021 after having held a series of roles in the authority from 2000 onwards.
“I am honoured to be elected as Chair of the EASA Management Board. With this, I commit to supporting EASA, the Member States and the European Commission in the important task of ensuring aviation is truly safe for all citizens,” she said.
Ana Vieira da Mata is the first female chair of the MB, meaning the board now has an all-female leadership team. Anelia Marinova, Director General at the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration, remains in her position as Vice Chair.
Ana Vieira da Mata replaces Koen Milis, who left the MB earlier in 2025.
