📍 Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas — American Airlines has reached a major milestone in its fleet expansion, welcoming its 1,000th mainline aircraft—a premium-configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft arrived at the airline’s Dallas–Fort Worth hub on August 29, 2025, as part of its ongoing modernization and long-haul service enhancement strategy.

The new Dreamliner features American’s latest Flagship Suite product, offering upgraded privacy, comfort, and in-flight amenities. With 51 lie-flat business-class seats in a reverse herringbone layout, the aircraft is designed to elevate the premium travel experience on international and select domestic routes.

Since April 2025, American has taken delivery of eight 787-9s with the new configuration, with 22 more on order. These aircraft currently operate on routes including Chicago–London Heathrow, Philadelphia–London, and Chicago–Los Angeles. Additional long-haul destinations such as Auckland, Brisbane, and Buenos Aires are scheduled to receive the upgraded jets later this year.

Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American Airlines, stated, “We are excited to grow our fleet, adding even more aircraft that offer customers a premium travel experience. Looking forward to our next 100 years, we are focused on elevating and reimagining the onboard cabin experience.”

The milestone comes as American Airlines approaches its centenary in 2026, reinforcing its position as one of the largest carriers in the world and a founding member of the oneworld alliance.
