Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko today in Tokyo.

The Secretary and Foreign Minister exchanged views on the U.S.-Japan Alliance and its role as the cornerstone of security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. They committed to continuing progress on security commitments made during PM Kishida’s official visit to Washington, D.C., in April as well as the Security 2+2. Secretary Blinken thanked FM Kamikawa for her leadership on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), and they discussed ways to continue collaborating on WPS in the Indo-Pacific and the world. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the South China Sea and discussed recent developments in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
