The new brick music school is part of an urban development program that seeks to promote “spaces for social gathering with warm materials and natural ventilation.” The fiery red exterior of the building—brick, and clay—definitely creates a welcoming atmosphere that effortlessly allows the building to sink into its neighborhood. Another defining feature of the contemporary brick music school is the soaring cantilevered roof. Colectivo C733 used coconut wood to create it.
Naturally, the school is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and the main volume acts as “an open-plan community center.” In the mezzanine, the building incorporates a stage to house workshops and local musicians.
