Logistics UK has announced the return of its Transport Manager of The Year event, following its resounding success last year. The competition – supported by BP – brings together all transport managers in the logistics industry and celebrates their achievements.
With entries open until 19 May 2023, Logistics UK is urging all transport managers to apply now for a chance to showcase their talents and be recognised by their peers and other industry professionals.
David Wells, Chief Executive at Logistics UK, comments: “Last year Logistics UK hosted its first ever Transport Manager of The Year event, and I am delighted that we can do so again this year. Transport managers play a vital role in the logistics sector as they are responsible for ensuring operations are as efficient and sustainable as possible, which is crucial now more than ever as the industry accelerates towards achieving net zero by 2050.”
“I was extremely honoured to be crowned as Logistics UK’s first Transport Manager of the Year,” comments 2022 winner Lee Prentice. “It’s a challenging but rewarding competition that highlights the multitude of skills and wealth of industry knowledge transport operators hold, and the invaluable contribution we make to the industry.”
The competition will take place over multiple stages and will include a legislation and compliance knowledge test, as well as a case study submission and online interviews. Selected finalists will then be granted free entry to Logistics UK’s Transport Manager conference in Birmingham on 30 November 2023, where the winner will be announced. Prizes include a £1000 holiday voucher for first place and a £500 shopping voucher for second place, with both also receiving two tickets each to the eagerly anticipated 2023 Logistics Awards.
To enter, applicants must hold a valid Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National or International) or equivalent (in accordance with paragraphs 8 to 13 of Schedule 3 of The Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995). Candidates must also be either currently named as an internal transport manager on a standard national or international goods operator licence or employed by a restricted operator licence holder to conduct a role equivalent to transport manager.
Deadline for entries is 19th May 2023. For more information, visit: https://logistics.org.uk/events/currently-live/transport-manager-of-the-year
