Dave plays a famous action star who retires from the spotlight and moves to a small town so his daughter can grow up with a “normal life.” The daughter, who dreams of being an actor, has a hard time making friends at her new school, so he signs her up for community theater. His love interest is the community theater director, played by Judy Greer, who ropes him into helping her with the production of Cinderella when the actor playing Prince Charming drops out. They initially butt heads, but they realize they’re in love when the actor playing Cinderella fails to make it to opening night, forcing Judy to step into the role.
