X-energy Secures $700 Million to Scale Advanced Nuclear Reactors Globally

CSR/ECO/ESG

U.S.-based nuclear innovator X-energy has closed an oversubscribed $700 million Series D financing round, marking one of the largest fundraisings in the advanced nuclear sector. The investment will accelerate the global deployment of the company’s Xe-100 small modular reactors (SMRs) and expand its TRISO-X fuel supply chain, positioning advanced nuclear as a cornerstone of clean energy and decarbonization strategies.

Funding and Investors

The round, announced on November 24, 2025, was led by Jane Street and joined by major institutional investors including ARK Invest, Galvanize, Hood River Capital Management, Point72, Reaves Asset Management, and XTX Ventures, alongside existing backers such as Ares Management, Emerson Collective, and Segra Capital Management X-energy NucNet.

This latest raise brings X-energy’s total funding over the past 13 months to $1.4 billion, underscoring investor confidence in nuclear’s role in the energy transition NucNet.

Strategic Partnerships and Deployment

X-energy has secured contracts with Amazon, Dow Inc., and Centrica to deliver fleets of SMRs in the U.S. and U.K. The company’s commercial pipeline now exceeds 11 GW of planned capacity, equivalent to roughly 144 advanced reactors ESG News TechCrunch.

The flagship Cascade Advanced Energy Facility in Texas will be built in three phases, each deploying four Xe-100 reactors capable of producing 80 MW of high-temperature gas-cooled power NucNet.

Industry Significance

The Xe-100 SMR is designed to provide flexible, carbon-free energy, supporting both industrial operations and grid resilience. By scaling its TRISO-X fuel production, X-energy aims to secure a reliable supply chain for advanced nuclear fuels, a critical step in commercializing next-generation reactors.

The company’s expansion reflects a broader trend: nuclear energy is increasingly seen as essential to achieving net-zero targets, complementing renewables with reliable baseload power.

Outlook

With fresh capital and strategic partnerships, X-energy is positioned to lead the global rollout of advanced nuclear reactors, reinforcing nuclear’s role in sustainable energy systems. The funding also signals growing investor appetite for climate-aligned infrastructure, as governments and corporations seek scalable solutions to meet rising energy demand while cutting emissions.
