📍 London, UK — Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the British luxury carmaker owned by Tata Motors, has confirmed a major cyberattack that has severely disrupted its global retail and manufacturing operations. The company said it took immediate action by proactively disconnecting its systems to contain the incident, which occurred over the weekend.
In a statement, JLR reported that while production and dealer activities were significantly impacted, there is currently no evidence that customer data has been compromised. The disruption coincided with the launch of new vehicle registration plates in the UK, a peak period for automotive sales.
Manufacturing plants, including Solihull and Halewood, were temporarily shut down, and some employees were instructed not to report to work. Dealers across the UK were unable to register new vehicles or supply parts, further highlighting the operational impact.
Although JLR has not disclosed the nature of the attack, cybersecurity experts suggest the response indicates a possible ransomware incident. This marks the second cyber event affecting JLR in 2025, raising concerns about persistent vulnerabilities in its digital infrastructure.
The company stated it is “working at pace to restart global applications in a controlled manner” but has not provided a timeline for full recovery.
