This is as a progression of his royal highness been officially chosen by the kingmakers and observing all rites including a mandatory seclusion.
The coronation activities are scheduled to commence on Friday, May 16, 2025, and culminate on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Ilesa, the capital of Ijesaland. This announcement was made by Shola Oshunkeye, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, in a statement issued by the Palace.

Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State and a prominent businessman, was named as the successor to the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II on December 27, 2024. His appointment followed a selection process conducted by the Ijesa kingmakers at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat. - May 20, 2025: Owa Ajimoko III Ijesa Marathon at 7 a.m., followed by the final of the coronation football competition, medal presentation, and awards ceremony at Ilesa Grammar School Sports arena at 10 a.m.
- May 21, 2025: Visits and charity to orphanages in and around Ilesa starting at 10 a.m., followed by a video documentary and workshop by Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum (IMRDF) at the University of Ilesa in the afternoon.
- May 22, 2025: Ajimoko III Coronation Golf Kitty at 8 a.m., symposium, and Ajimoko III Foundation’s scholarship and empowerment scheme at Royal Park International Hotel & Resort, Iloko-Ijesa at 11 a.m.
- May 23, 2025: Grand coronation ceremony at the Owa’s Palace at 10 a.m., followed by a coronation reception at Ilesa Grammar School at 1 p.m.
- May 25, 2025: Interdenominational thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church, Otapete, Ilesa at 10 a.m.

Controversy and Legal Disputes
The selection of Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup has sparked controversy among some royal families in Ijesaland. These are understandable and often the case in Nigeria and other jurisdiction when a former king passes and a new one is to be choosen, and in almost all instances bar a few, there has been objections and oppositions by other contenders.
Despite these objections, the Osun State Government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Owa Haastrup, and the coronation activities are proceeding as scheduled.
