Newmark, the global commercial real estate advisory firm, has officially launched a dedicated UK Science and Innovation practice, strengthening its footprint in one of the fastest-growing asset classes in Europe.
The newly formed division, based in London, will be led by Paddy Shipp, formerly Head of UK Life Sciences at JLL, and supported by Rupert Dando, who joins from Savills as Senior Associate. Together, the pair bring significant experience in the life sciences and innovation sectors, having overseen leasing of more than 2.8 million square feet across major UK science clusters.
Expanding a Global Life Sciences Platform
The new UK practice is set to collaborate closely with Newmark’s global network, particularly its U.S. Life Sciences group, which has completed over $2.3 billion in transactions and leased more than four million square feet in the past two years alone.
According to reporting by Connect CRE’s Paul Bubny, the UK Science and Innovation team will engage with key stakeholders—including investors, developers, occupiers, and venture capital firms—to support the planning, development, and occupancy of purpose-built science and technology spaces.
Strategic Alignment Across Disciplines
Newmark’s UK Science and Innovation practice will also work alongside other in-house teams, including Planning & Development, Higher Education, Occupier Agency, and Capital Markets, to provide integrated advisory solutions across the science property lifecycle.
The expansion reflects increasing institutional interest in the UK’s life sciences sector, particularly in established hubs like Cambridge, Oxford, and London’s Knowledge Quarter, as demand for lab-enabled and innovation-led real estate continues to outpace supply.
